Soldiers
Dog Soldiers were an elite group of Cheyenne warriors who were integral in the battle against the American expansion through the Great Plains, into the West. It is said that in battle they would drive one of three sacred arrows they carried into a chosen piece of ground through an extra long loin cloth and defend to the death. This warrior represents the ultimate in steadfastness, dedication and bravery.There are those of us who anchor ourselves to our family, friends, career, or whatever is held important. The Ancient One Reflects The creases in his face tell a million stories. He has seen so much. In a quiet moment he plays his drum and looks back at the things that have meant the most in his life. He is a very spiritual man connected to the Creator through the Eagle who is his voice to the heavens. The turtle represents Mother Earth, upon whom he walks and lives, and to whom he pays respect with every part of his being. He has been a strong man in his community, a leader, a man of medicine, his hand is clenched with his power, and the braid of sweetgrass is one of his cleansing tools. He remembers fondly the beauty of his Woman in her youth, and the strong children she bore him. The Spirits have always guided him in a good way, hinting of his purpose, and giving him the knowledge necessary along the way.
